In the heart of San Antonio’s south side, over 13,000 children lack access to after-school activities and physical exercise.
Instead, they spend over 7 hours a day glued to screens or risking their safety on the streets, exposed to violence, crime, and negative influences.
It's time to change this, and we need your help to make a difference in our community.
Edgar Ortega, is 19 years old, he comes to Sporti to play soccer every day since the fields opened in South San Antonio.
He remembers with emotion his first tournament where he was champion, and shares with us that soccer leaves him a great life lesson: "If something goes wrong, we have to learn to move forward regardless of the circumstances"
Soccer has opened great opportunities for him to study at different universities in the United States.
Christian Garcia, Lina Solis, Catalina Alvarado and Jackson Resendez, share with us what they like most about Sporti!
They practice during the week to develop as soccer athletes, play on Saturday afternoons at the SATX Youth Soccer League Tournament, and at the same time make friends and have fun!
Sporti, transforming lives, you can be a part of this by donating to help many children in South San Antonio transform their lives through sports.
This is 13-year-old Giselle Guerrero who represents SPORTI Transforming Lives at the SATX YOUTH Soccer League Tournament! Since the age of 5, Giselle has been honing her skills on the field, and as a midfielder, she's a key player and a true team motivator. Through our program, Giselle has gained confidence and is getting stronger with each practice. She now expresses herself freely, not only elevating her game but also uplifting those around her. SPORTI has become her second family, empowering her to thrive on and off the field. With every match, she's reminded that dreams can be achieved through dedication and passion for the sport she loves.
Through structured sports activities, we promote physical health, instilling the importance of an active lifestyle.
By participating in soccer training and matches, children build strength, endurance, and coordination.
Our program nurtures their socio-emotional development, fostering positive relationships, teamwork, and resilience.
We provide a safe space where they can express themselves, develop empathy, and build self-confidence.
These essential life skills prepare them to navigate challenges and succeed in their lives.
We prioritize the overall well-being of the children we serve.
Our dedicated team of coaches and mentors provides guidance, support, and mentorship,
ensuring that each child feels valued, cared for, and understood.
By addressing their emotional needs, we create an environment where they can thrive and experience the joy of belonging to a supportive community.
In the next 2 or 3 years, the consequences could be devastating. Without access to physical activity these children may face severe health conditions, some of which can even be fatal.
The lack of exercise can lead to obesity, heart disease, and other life-threatening illnesses that will haunt them for years to come.
Moreover, without positive outlets and structured activities, these children are at risk of falling into the clutches of addiction, surrounding themselves with negative influences, and possibly getting involved in gangs or criminal activities.
Alarmingly, a recent World Health Organization (WHO) study reveals that:
more than 80% of school-age adolescents worldwide do not achieve the recommended minimum level of one hour of physical activity per day, putting their current and future health at risk.
We cannot turn a blind eye to the potential fate awaiting these children.
Together, we can intervene, provide them with a safe place, and empower them to break free from the vicious cycle.
Picture the smiles on children's faces as they discover their potential and find their place in the world. This is your chance to be part of something truly special, a cause that touches lives and transforms communities.
